The Greek islands cover about 20% of the total area of Greece. All these islands (over 2,000 islands and islets) with a coastline of 14,000 km make this area an ideal yachting area, for sailing holidays. Only 227 of the islands are inhabited, and only 78 of those have more than 100 inhabitants.

The climate in Greece and the Greek Islands is Mediterranean in character: dry hot summers and mild moist winters.

The charter season starts in March when air temperatures rise above the seawater temperatures, which has a stabilizing effect. Around mid-May till the end of June, the temperatures are higher and the weather becomes very stable.
In July and August prevailing high temperatures and more hours of sun - this is the high season for sailing boat chartering in Greece!
